Short answer

Start with OpusClip if you want a free plan to test on (60 credits a month, watermark) and AI scoring of which clips may perform. Choose Klap if you post a lot and pay yearly: Basic lists 100 clips a month for $14/mo billed yearly. Pick quso.ai if you also want to schedule clips to several social platforms from the same tool. Pick Submagic if captions and short-form editing matter more to you than automatic clip-finding; it also offers Magic Clips for long videos.

Picks are based on published plans and features, not hands-on testing yet.

How to choose

How long is your source footage?

Clipping tools bill in credits or clips. quso.ai says a credit is roughly one minute of video, so a weekly 60-minute podcast would use about 240 credits a month there. OpusClip also bills in credits, while Klap counts finished clips. Estimate your monthly minutes of raw video first, then check each vendor’s credit rules.

Do you need scheduling or just files?

If you already use a social scheduler, export-only is fine. quso.ai’s Essential plan and OpusClip’s Pro plan list built-in scheduling, which saves a tool if you do not have one.

Free test or yearly commitment

OpusClip and quso.ai let you try on a free plan. Klap and Submagic listed paid plans only on Oct 15, 2026, and their lowest prices require yearly billing. Test with one real episode before paying for a year.

Captions and brand look

All four add AI captions. If your brand fonts, colors and caption style matter, check which plan unlocks brand templates and custom fonts; on OpusClip, custom fonts start on Pro.

A human still picks the clips

“Virality” or performance scores are the vendor’s prediction, not a guarantee. Review every clip for context: a 30-second cut can change what someone meant.

1. OpusClip

Best for: creators and brands repurposing long videos into shorts.

OpusClip finds the strongest moments in a long video and turns them into captioned, reframed vertical clips, with a Virality Score to rank them. Starter is monthly-only at $15 for 150 credits; Pro is $29 a month or $14.50 a month billed annually ($174 a year) for 300 credits and adds team seats, scheduling and more editing tools. Limitations: the free plan adds a watermark and clips must be exported within 3 days; custom fonts and 16:9 or 1:1 reframing start on Pro.
